All of our programs follow an emergent curriculum, which encourages learning opportunities throughout the environment and is based on the interests of the children.  Our purposefully planned classrooms provide opportunities for children to engage in art, imaginative play, science, math concepts, building and language and literacy experiences.  We encourage the development of social, problem solving and self regulation skills.

The general atmosphere of each classroom has an air of busy interest and purposefulness, without pressure or tension.  While children are engaged in a variety of activities, they receive comfort, encouragement and reassurance from their teachers.

We are an inclusive centre, providing an environment for children of all abilities.  FUN School works with community agencies, some of which provide classroom assistants where necessary.

We have access to agencies that specialize in early identification of children with special needs as well as access to a network of Physical, Occupational, Speech and Behaviour Therapists.

FUN School is a participant in the Region of Peel’s “Raising the Bar” Initiative which measures three areas of quality: Best Practices, Professional Development and Quality Assurance. This is a voluntary accreditation for licensed child care programs.

In the Kindergarten program, alongside many play opportunities, we introduce the Jolly Phonics Program to teach children their letters and sounds, adding word boxes and reading programs as children progress

In addition, we work on fine motor skills through the Handwriting Without Tears program.

We also work on math skills and time and money concepts.

We have one half hour class each week for French and  one 40 minute class for rhythm dance.
